Eindhoven - A small project (proposal) for StaatsBosBeheer, the dutch Forest stewards. Focused on the Leenderbos.
Culturally, as a people we have been moving further away from nature since the dawn of industrialization, placing ourselves on top rather than acknowledging to be part of the diverse ecosystem that surrounds us.
The self-organizing buffer garden is intended to be a space where nature is observed and experienced with all senses, a place where nature and humans join forces to co-create a space of mutual benefit.
Utilizing former agricultural land and implementing permaculture principles, it acts as a buffer zone between agriculture and forest, with the ultimate goal for it to re-wild and become part of the adjacent forest. For humans to learn, and nature to grow. (Illustrations by floor Rebbers)
